Fortunately, PDF files have an inbuilt password-protection encryption making it easier for users to password protect a PDF file for free.
The steps can be different if you are using Windows or MAC OS, so follow this below guide where I will guide you on how you can start securing PDFs with passwords in no time.
Step 01: First download and install the latest version of Adobe Reader for MAC or Windows.
Step 02: Now to make your PDF password protected in Adobe Reader, open the PDF file that you want to secure. You can either browse and open the file from your system or can drag and drop it from your system.
Step 03: After you have opened your file, go to ‘View’ located on the top left side of the Adobe Reader. Then click on ‘Tools’ and then go to ‘Protection’. As soon as you click on ‘Protection’ a new Windows will pop-up, now set password for PDF file and click ‘Ok’
Unfortunately, if this method doesn’t work then the only way through which you can protect your PDF with a password is by using third-party software.
