• First, create a new folder and save your password protected excel file in that folder
• Now go to Organize – Click Folder & search options
• Under Tab view, scroll down to uncheck ‘Hide extensions’ for known file types and click on Apply
• Now change the file extension from .xlsx to .zip by renaming it and click Yes
• Now unzip it and extract the files
• Navigate to location xl – worksheets– Sheet1.xml and open with a notepad
• Now find and search for the tag “sheetProtection”
• Once you find it, delete the whole tag and save it
• Now change the extension from .zip to .xlsx and save it
• Now you can easily open and edit your excel file without any password

So this is how you can remove password from your encrypted excel sheet.

However, if this method doesn’t work then the only way through which you can restore password protected excel files is by using a good password recovery tool.
