Steps to Convert the Maildir Files into Different File Formats

  • Step 1: Start the Sysinfo Maildir Converter as an Administrator on your PC.

  • Step 2: Now, the software provides you with two options: Single File/Multiple Files and Select Folders. Select any one and then press Next.

  • Step 3: Again, click on the Select File or Select Folder option to select the Maildir files from the system.

  • Step 4: Locate and select the Maildir files from the system and click Open to add the files to the tool. Then, click the Next button.

  • Step 5: Here, you can preview the selected Maildir files. Select the folders from the tree structure that you want to back up or migrate. Hit Next.

  • Step 6: Now, to convert Maildir to any file format select Convert as File Format. Expand the list of the file formats and choose a file format from the drop-down menu. Here, we choose PST.

  • Step 7: Check the Remove Duplicate Mail to delete all identical emails from the selected Maildir folders on the basis of To, From, Subject, BCC, and Body.

  • Step 8: Select the Migrate or Backup Emails Without Attachments Files feature to exclude the attachments from the emails while migrating Maildir files.

  • Step 9: Select the “Select Mails on the Basis of Specific Keyword if Found in the Email” option to convert emails that contain the particular keyword you are looking for.

  • Step 10: Check the Mail Filter checkbox to choose and migrate emails by the specified date range. All you need to do is enter a start date and end date between which the data needs to be migrated.

  • Step 12: Click on the Path To Save button to select the desired destination path for the resultant folder. And then click on Convert to start conversion.

Import Maildir files into Email Clients

Follow the steps from 1 to 5 as mentioned above and then go along with the below-steps to import Maildir files into other email clients:

  • Step 6: Now, choose Convert as Email clients, and from the drop-down list select the email client in which you want to migrate Maildir files. Here, we chose Gmail.

  • Step 7: Enter your Gmail ID and third-party app password in the software and click on the Sign In button.

  • Step 8: You can also choose to log in using Modern Authentication. Tick the Use Modern Authentication checkbox. Enter your Gmail ID and click on the Sign In button.

  • Step 9: You will be redirected to your default browser page for authentication. Once you get the authentication successful message on the screen, return to the tool.

  • Step 10: Opt for these filters/options if required:
    • Remove Duplicate Mail:- To remove similar items from the Maildir folders.
    • Migrate or Backup Emails Without Attachments files:- To transfer only the emails and exclude their attachments.
    • Select Mails on the Basis of Specific Keywords:- To migrate only those emails that contain the specific keyword you are looking for.

  • Step 11: Also, check the Mail Filter option to separate the Maildir emails in an individual date range.
