Perform the Step-by-Step Process to Delete Duplicate Files from Your System

Step-1:
Launch Software

Download and install the SysInfo Duplicate File Finder and Remover Tool.

Select Data Type

Next, choose any of the two options:

  • Photos (Duplicate or Similar Photos): For similarity detection of visual images.
  • Files (Duplicate Files or Documents): For removing and detecting duplicate files or documents of various formats.

Pick Scanning Mode

Then, opt for a scanning mode based on your requirement:

  • All Files: Scans every file in the uploaded and chosen folders.
  • Custom File Scan: Scans only specific categories of the loaded files, like Documents, Music, Videos, Images, or Archives.
  • Extension-Based Scan: Scans the files based on a particular extension for a specific search.
    Here, we first choose the All Files option.

Options to Add Data

Further, choose to use the Drag & Drop feature. Or, press the Click Here button at the bottom to browse and select files and folders manually.

Upload Folders

Now, browse your system for the folder and click Select Folder to load your data.

Now, you can see the folder added in the software window. You can add more as needed.

Scanning Options

Afterward, customize your scan using the available options by clicking the Scan Options button:

  • File Protection: Choose to exclude desktop, hidden, application, and system files from scanning as needed.
  • Date Filters: Scan files based on creation or modification dates for duplicates.
  • Size Filters: Include or exclude files smaller or larger than a chosen size (MB/KB/GB).
    Click OK to save the options chosen.

System Scan

Alternatively, select Scan Whole Computer to run a complete system-wide scan and find duplicates across your entire PC.

Custom Scan Feature

Now, click Custom File Scan to load documents based on specific categories, like Documents, Videos, Images, Music, and Archives.

Extensive Scan Feature

Enable Extension-Based Scan to locate duplicate files based on their specific file extensions. It can be (.csv, .pdf, .dbf, .docx, .xlsx, .pst, etc.).

  • You can choose to either Select/Deselect All.
  • Pick the file format extensions manually.
  • Or, even remove unwanted extensions with the Remove Extensions button. Click OK.

Initiate Duplicate Check

Once you have applied all filters and preferences as desired, press Start Scan to begin the scanning process.

Duplicate Scanning

The software will scan all the files. Wait until the process completes and gives you the results. You can halt the scan in between if needed, with the Stop button.

Duplicate Summary & Removal Options

Check the displayed summary of detected duplicates with two options:

  • Auto Remove: Automatically deletes the duplicates with actions like Delete Permanently, Move to Bin, or Move to Folder.
  • View Detailed Results: Presents a detailed list of all duplicate files for manual review.

Preview Duplicate Results

Click View Detailed Results to see categorized duplicate files for a clearer view and easier selection based on different elements.

Duplicate Retention Options

Later, use the Select Duplicate option to manage which files you want to keep or remove. Choose any of these options:

  • Retain Oldest Files (Select Older Files): Keeps the earliest version of your file and marks newer versions for deletion.
  • Retain Newest Files (Select Newer Files): Keeps the latest version of the selected files and marks older versions for deletion.
  • Clear All Selections: Deselects all files, allowing you to manually select duplicates for removal.
    Press Apply to save the preference.

Duplicate Management

Also, press Select Action to choose an action to manage the selected duplicates:

  • Permanently Delete: Remove similar files completely with no recovery option.
  • Move to Bin: Send duplicate files to the system Recycle Bin or Trash.
  • Move to Folder: Move duplicate files to a chosen folder for review or backup at a later time.

Implementation Options

Now, in the same panel, use the Apply to option to set the chosen action on Current Page or All Pages.

Export Duplicate Result

Click Apply and use the Export Result option to save the scanned report of duplicate removal.

Resultant Folder Selection

Finally, pick a folder for the resultant report in CSV format for future reference or record-keeping. Give it a name and click Save.

Once the process completes as per your chosen preference, you will receive a completion message. Click OK and exit.
