Creation of ANSI PST file in MS Outlook 2010/2013

Postby janny@me » Tue Mar 25, 2014 10:45 am

Dear friends,
I just want to know that is it possible to create PST files in ANSI format with MS Outlook 2010/2013? We are having some clients which are still using older versions of Outlook. We need to create PST files in ANSI format as well, so it becomes compatible for them.

With MS Outlook 2010/2013, the files are created in Unicode format by default.

Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is possible to create an ANSI formatted PST file in MS Outlook 2010/2013. To do this, first you must change the file type when you are specifying the name of PST file.
1. Launch MS Outlook on your system
2. On the Home tab, click New Items > More Items > Outlook Data File...
3. Expand the "Save as type" list.
4. Choose 97-2002 Data File (.pst) and click OK.

Note: If you have Business Contact Manager installed in your system, you may get an additional prompt where you can choose between a “Business Contact Manager Database” or an “Outlook data file (.pst)”.

Hope this would be helpful.
Regards. :)
