Unable to edit a scanned PDF file.

Postby kaaita » Thu Dec 12, 2013 6:56 am

Recently I converted a document into PDF, but now I can't edit it.
I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro X.

How did you convert the document into PDF? Did you use ClearScan option in Adobe Acrobat or what did you use?

Yes, you are right. I used ClearScan option. Anything wrong with it?
Please advice. :)

No-no, there's nothing wrong with it! But you are not done here.
You need to perform one more task here if you haven't yet. This task must be performed before you edit the scanned document. The ClearScan option only converts the fonts in the document into custom fonts. Once you have converted the document, you need to replace the custom fonts with those fonts which you have on your computer.

Don't worry, I will help you.
Before you start, make sure that the document, which you scanned earlier, contains live text that you can select and change. If you can't select the text, you need to run Optical Character Recognition (OCR) on the document. To know how, look below:

1. As you are using Adobe Acrobat X, select Tools > Recognize Text > In This File.
2. Now you need to use the Edit Document Text tool to select the text that you want to edit. You can find this tool in the Content panel on the Tools pane.
3. Once you have selected the text, right-click on it and choose Properties. Make sure the Text tab is selected.
4. Now open the Font menu in the Text tab. The fonts shown above the line are the custom fonts, and the fonts shown below the line are the local fonts (system fonts).
5. Now select a font which is shown below the line that closely matches the custom font.
6. Select a font size that closely matches the custom font.

You are done. Now you can easily edit your scanned PDF file.
Hope this would be helpful.
