Virtual machines are highly popular and excessively used in these days just because of the flexibility of their virtual hard disks. Virtual disks can easily be created, added to the virtual machine and removed from it. It supports various configurations through which you can efficiently use physical disk space. Fortunately, virtual disks are not immune to corruption and other damage like the physical hard disk. But still, if you get corruption in virtual disks, in such situation, you need Virtual disk recovery software to recover your data from corrupt files used in Virtual machines, such as VHD & VHDX, VMDK and VDI.
Before discuss further on virtual disk corruption and virtual disk recovery, let’s talk about Virtual machine, its importance and different files types used in it.
Virtual Machine – Its Importance
Virtual Machine is just like an operating system (OS) or application environment installed on software. It’s commonly known as an emulator of a computer system. Emulation is a process in which a computer system (a host) behaves like another computer system (a guest). The primary function of the virtual machine provides you with a platform for running other operating systems (one or multiple) within the same computer. Several files are contained in the virtual machine, and stored on any supported storage device. The important files which make up a virtual machine are a Configuration file, virtual disk file, NVRAM (Non-volatile Random-access memory) setting file, and log file.
Using a virtual machine provides you with mix results, i.e. both advantages and disadvantages.
VHD is commonly known as a hard disk image file used for the virtual machine on Windows operating systems. It can store the entire data in a single file which works as an individual hard disk of the virtual machine. It’s primarily used for installing multiple operating systems on a single computer, testing software programs, and/or running older applications.
VHDX is also a hard disk image file just like VHD file. The only difference between these two is that VHD is created in Windows 7 and its earlier version, on the other hand, VHDX is created in Windows 8 and its later versions. As compared to the VHD file, it has new smart capabilities, such as performance improvements, data corruption prevention mechanisms, data storage up to 16 TB.

VMDK is a virtual machine disk file used to store the entire content of a VMware virtual machine hard disk. It can be accessed as a physical hard disk with VMware software. It’s created on VMware workstation with a primary purpose of running as a virtual machine.
VDI is a virtual disk image format used by Oracle VM VirtualBox, an open-source desktop virtualization program. A VDI file can be mounted as a hard disk on different platforms, such as Windows, Mac, and Unix. The primary function of a VDI file is to allow users to run programs written for different operating systems in a high-speed virtual environment.
All such files used as a hard disk of Virtual machine, are prone to corruption just like a physical hard disk is. There are numerous reasons which can cause corruption in Virtual hard disk files (VHD, VHDX, VMDK, and VDI). Virtual disk files become inaccessible due to corruption. In such a situation, you must try Virtual disk recovery software Toolkit to repair corrupt or restore VHD, VHDX, VMDK & VDI virtual disk files. It helps you recover maximum possible data from them.
Virtual Disk Recovery Software is capable to scan Virtual hard disks and exhibits all deleted data and restores VHD, VHDX, VMDK and VDI files and saves the data locally. Users can download free Virtual Disk Data Recovery Software for understanding the working process of the tool and after complete satisfaction, they can purchase the license keys at affordable price.
