What is Peer to Peer File Sharing

In a P2P network, all the nodes or computers are connected with each other. A Peer to Peer software program allows the users to share or download the files instantly over internet.

How Does it Work?

Peer to Peer file sharing works on self server and client principal. This is not a claimed principal, but i use this term to make you understand P2P file sharing better. Once you are connected to internet using P2P client, and start downloading the file. You are connected with other Peers downloading the same file. Other Peers act as a file server for you. Meanwhile when someone else is connected in the P2P network, to download the same file, you start acting as a file server as well. And this is how Peer to Peer file sharing takes place. This process also increases the download speed.

μTorrent is the most widely used program which works on P2P network. This program also gives an ease to share your large files over web instantly, using peer to peer file sharing. Other common P2P software programs are LimeWire, BearShare, Morpheus, and Acquisition.

P2P File sharing with limited access

It is often seen that if you are using internet in a school or office, you are not able to install P2P software programs on your computer. In such cases you may use Browser based peer to peer file sharing. In such cases everything works in the same manner, except, only the software is installed in cloud.

Now whenever you need to transfer huge files over web, need not to worry about splitting the file into parts or uploading online in a cloud storage and sharing with the others. We recommend you to go with peer to peer file sharing and save your time.

I was aware of Torrent files, but was actually not aware of the protocol it works on. So now my doubt is clear for Peer to Peer file sharing. :) nice information.
