  • Excel to CSV Conversion
  • Import Contacts from CSV
  • Export Contacts to vCard

Excel to CSV Conversion Process

The manual trick starts with Excel to CSV conversion. Follow the steps shown below to convert Excel file to CSV format:

  1. Launch the Excel workbook (XLS or XLSX) on your system which you want to convert into CSV format.
  2. Click Office button Save As > Other Formats.
  3. Define a location for new CSV file as well as give it a name (optional). Select Save as type: CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv). Click Save.
  4. A message will appear if the selected workbook contains multiple sheets. Click OK to save only the active sheet.
  5. One more message will appear on your screen. Click Yes to keep the selected workbook in the same format.

Steps to Import Contacts from CSV

Once your Excel workbook has been converted into CSV format, you need to import all the contacts from this new CSV file. To do that, follow the steps shown below:

  1. On your desktop, press Windows logo key and type contacts in the search box. Click Contacts under Programs list.
  2. The Contacts window will open on your screen. To import contacts from CSV file, click the Import tab.
  3. A short window of Import to Windows Contacts will pop-up. Select CSV (Comma Separated Values) option from the list and click Import button to continue the process.
  4. Now choose the CSV file to import. Click Browse to locate the file.
  5. Select the CSV file from which you want to import the contacts to your system. Click Open to confirm file selection.
  6. The selected CSV file will be listed here in the edit box. Click Next to continue the process.
  7. All the text and contacts fields will be displayed here. Map them appropriately. For e.g. click Name of the Employee field.
  8. Select the contact field from here. For e.g. select Name field if you have selected Name of the Employee. Click OK.
  9. Map all the fields in the same way. Once the mapping of text and contacts fields is done, click Finish to start the import process.

Export Contacts to vCard

Once you have successfully imported all the contacts from the CSV file to your Windows system, you can export them to new vCard files. Follow the steps shown below:

  1. From the Contact Window, Select all the contacts which you want to export to vCard files. Click Export tab.
  2. A short window of Export Windows Contacts will pop-up. Select vCards (folder of .vcf files) option from the list and click Export to continue the process.

  3. Select the location for VCF export. You can also create a new folder at any location. Once you have selected the location, click OK to confirm it.
  4. Within a few seconds, all the contacts will export Contacts to VCF files at the defined location. Click OK.
