  7. Select the folder that you want to import. To import everything in the .pst file, select the top of the hierarchy.

Note: The top folder (usually Personal Folders, Outlook Data File or your email address) is selected automatically, and the Include subfolders are selected by default. All folders under the folder selected will be imported.

Import PST to Outlook in Windows 7 and other earlier versions

  1. Launch Microsoft Outlook on your system.
  2. On the File menu, click Import and Export. If the option is unavailable, then you need to move the pointer over the chevrons at the bottom of the menu and then click Import and Export.
  3. Now click Import from another file, and then click Next.
  4. Click Personal Folder File (.pst), and then click Next.
  5. Now type here the path and name of the PST file that wants to import, and then again click Next.
  6. Here select the folder that you want to import. To import everything in the PST file, select the top of the hierarchy.
  7. Click Finish.

Important Notes Before using the manual trick, make sure:

  • The Outlook data files aka PST are not corrupted.
  • The Read-only attribute of the PST file you are about to import is not selected. If it is selected, you may receive an error message or may face a problem while copying the files from one system to other.
