Unreadable content in MS Excel 2010.

Something strange here. I have two operatinig systems installed in my laptop. One is Windows XP and other one is Windows 7 (64 bit). I use MS Office in XP and MS Office 2010 in Win 7. I have an excel spreadseet. Whenever I try open it in MS PowerPoint 2010, I get an error something like this: "Excel found unreadable content in "FileName'. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook? If you trust the source of this workbook, click yes." . When I click on Yes nothing happens. But I can easily open this file in MS Office 2007 on XP. Does anyone know what's wrong here? I wanna say thanks in advance.

It seems some setting problem there. Before opening the file, Right click on it > click on Properties. There must be a check sign on the box Read only. Uncheck it and then click on OK. Now see if it works.
