Issue in Calculations transfer ?

Postby Micheal T. Leo » Sat Nov 15, 2014 5:54 am

Good morning!

I use Open office on a Windows computer and a MAC with Yosemite. I have a form with calculations that I use on the Windows computer that works fine. When I transfer these over to the Mac using Open Office, the calculations do not work.

For example, I am subtracting times and converting the answer to tenths using this formula.. =HOUR(f22-e22)+minute(f22-e22)/60
This formula works great on the windows computer but all I get on the MAC is 0.0

Any ideas?

The usual problem when a calculation produces zero when it shouldn't is that the input values are text instead of numbers. Calc treats text in a calculation as zero.

You can check for text numbers using View > Value Highlighting: ON or by clicking on a cell that holds a number: if the formula entry box (above the cell grid) shows an apostrophe before the number, then the value is text. Edit out the apostrophe and enter the value.
