Problem with IF formula !

Postby Joseph S. Klein » Wed Aug 20, 2014 11:12 am

I am creating a checkbook register for OO spreadsheet.
Column d = debit
Column f = credit
column g = balance

I can't seem to get the formula to work. I get the ERR:508 error.

Here is the formula I am using for the g (balance) column:

I understand that OO uses ; where Excel uses ,. But changing the commas to semi-colons didn't change anything.
Can anyone help me on this ?

Thanks in advance,

To fix this problem use the formula:
Code: Select all
=IF(D3 > 0;G2-D3;IF(F3>0;G2+F3;G2))

entered in G3 should work. If your data are laid out as I suspect they are, then
Code: Select all

will also work, since blank cells have a value of zero.

I hope this will helps you..
