Q. How to create PST file?
Ans. To create a PST file follow these steps:
- On the File menu, select New, and then click Outlook Data File.
- In theTypes of storage area, click Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst)to create a new Outlook PST file which support multilingual Unicode data. Click Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst) to create a new Outlook PST file that is compatible with Outlook 97, 98, 2000, 2002.
- Click OK.
- Use the default Outlook folder location, or you can select a different folder location.
- In the File name box, type a name for the new .pst file, or you can use the default name. Click OK.
- In the Name box, type a title for the .pst file, or you can use the default title of Personal Folders. You can also select an encryption setting and a password for the .pst file. click OK.
- The new .pst file is added to the Outlook 2003 All Mail Folders list. To view the Folder List, click Folder List on theGo menu.
Q. How to install and configure MS Outlook in your system?
Ans. To configure MS Outlook on your system, Go to the start menu, click Control Panel then double click on Mail icon, following window will appear on your screen:
- Click on the Show Profiles button.
- This screen shows the different profiles configured on your machine. You may already have a profile installed
automatically by Windows. You can ignore this. You want to click on the Add button to begin to create a
new profile.
- Outlook will now ask you to give the profile a name. Type your first initial and last name here and click
OK.
- Click Add a new e-mail account and then Next.
- Select the POP3 button and click Next.
- Fill out the information in the empty fields. Enter email address like jdoel@test1.com and enter server information
like test1.com.
- Type the name for the account like test1. Then click on Advanced tab.
- In this tab, make sure your settings match those pictured in the example. Click OK. This will return you to your main
settings window. Click the Test Account Settings button.
- If some errors occur, there probably is something improperly configured in your settings.
Check them over for mistakes and then try the test again. Click Close, OK, and then Next.
- When all the settings have been entered, and the test completed, this window will appear alerting you that your account
has finished being set up. Click Finish.
- When you are returned to this window, make sure the button, Always use this profile is selected and the
name of the new profile, (jdoe in this example), is shown in the field at the bottom of the window. Click OK.
